Life in the Burg: El Jefe Taqueria Garje

Lynchburg would be the last place one would look for authentic Mexican food. However, El Jefe Taqueria Garje comes very close. Based on Commerce Street in Downtown Lynchburg, this restaurant specializes in basic Mexican fare and the best tequila selection in town.
My favorites on the simple menu are the potato and chorizo tacos, which I always have gringo (I have serious issues with this word) and on flour tortillas. But honestly, almost everyone heads to El Jefe for the margaritas. I love their cucumber jalapeno margaritas, extremely refreshing regardless of the season.
Another reason to hit up El Jefe has to be their awesome brunch menu complete with $12 pitchers of margaritas or bloody Marys.
El Jefe's best merit apart from the great food has to be their incredibly fast service. If you only have an hour for lunch, they can get you in, fed and out with time to spare. This is always a great feat for a girl on the move with little time to be a lady who lunches. On the flip, their patio is the perfect place to lounge and have drinks on the weekend or after work.
P.S. Parking can be tricky depending on time of the day but the food is worth the hassle.
